Earth - Belly - Brain Theater
through October 3
What does the soil beneath our feet have to do with our gut and our brain? During Food Week, the municipality of Altena is bringing the unique theater production “Soil – Gut – Brain” to the West Brabant region.
“Soil – Belly – Brain” is a surprising and accessible performance about the world of microorganisms and the connection between healthy soil, our food, and our own health.
Before the performance, we’ll take a moment to reflect on Our Food Week and Soil Animal Days. Afterward, Soil – Gut – Brain takes you into a world that usually remains invisible. What actually lives in a handful of soil? What role do microorganisms play in our soil and in our guts? And how closely are soil, food, and health interconnected? In the second part of the event, farmer Jan-Willem Breukink (a dairy farmer) will explain how he works to maintain healthy soil on his own farm and how that affects the quality of his milk.
An afternoon to see things differently…
