Cruise through the Biesbosch

October 9, October 10, and October 14

From the water, the Biesbosch is at its most beautiful. During this excursion we make a cruise through the Brabant Biesbosch on a large floating raft. The raft is virtually silent and offers a beautiful low vantage point to observe and photograph animals.

The Brabant Biesbosch is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. The vast area on the edge of South Holland and North Brabant consists of large wetlands, swamp forest and mudflats. It is an important area for breeding birds, migratory birds and wintering birds alike. In addition, it is also one of the best places in the Netherlands to see the beaver and nowadays even the otter lives here!

Throughout the year during the cruise we have a chance to see bird species such as bald eagle, kingfisher and cetti's warbler. In spring and fall, waders and ducks on migration can also be seen, such as ruff, black-tailed godwit, greenshank and sandpiper. In the summer, we look for the osprey nesting here, while in winter and early spring we have a chance to see winter visitors such as water pipit, pintail and smew.

During the trip a skipper who was born and raised in the Biesbosch will accompany you. During the cruise he can tell everything about the landscape of the Biesbosch and its cultural history. In addition, a guide of Dagjeindenatuur.nl goes along to point out and tell about all the birds and animals. With a maximum of 12 participants and two experienced guides, this is almost a private excursion!
