Alleys are narrow passages connecting main streets and are an important part of the cityscape. Often facing the river Linge, they used to have a lively character full of trade and activity. Although the alleys were traditionally mainly home to the less wealthy, nowadays they are part of the authentic character of Gorinchem. Some alleys have been affected by the urban renewal of the sixties and seventies, but fortunately many alleys are well preserved and still breathe history.
