VVV Biesboschlinie is the tourism and recreation agency in the municipality of Altena, located in northwestern North Brabant. We represent a region known for its combination of heritage, nature and water, with Woudrichem and National Park De Biesbosch being two of the best-known destinations. The VVV point is located in world store Fair van Ver in Woudrichem, where volunteers from the store are ready to answer questions. Also at the Biesbosch MuseumEiland visitor center in Werkendam, volunteers are ready to answer any questions about National Park de Biesbosch and the region.

Where can I rent a canoe in the Biesbosch?
You'll find locations for canoe rentals on this page. Please note that these rental companies do not deliver canoes on location. So look carefully at the starting point of the route you want to canoe and rent your canoe there.

Where do the canoe routes start?
The starting point of the route can be found at the bottom of the route. From there you can navigate directly to the starting point.

Which route can you recommend?
The Aakvlaair route is a 6 km long route ideal for beginners. With winding creeks, quiet beaches and a chance of beavers and spoonbills. Sail past islands, an old tjalk and nature that changes color every season. Quiet, safe and different every time! You can rent the canoe at the starting point: Docks Vissershang.

Are you an advanced canoeist? Then we recommend the Vijfambachtenroute. A day trip of 27 km full of variety. The route takes you through narrow creeks and over wider waterways. Enjoy the rich nature and stop along the way for a break, or take a walk on the Deeneplaat. You can rent the canoe at the starting point: Jachthaven van Oversteeg.

Dogs

Can I bring my dog on the routes?
In general, you are allowed to bring your dog throughout the region (including the Biesbosch), provided it is on a leash. The route the Oostwaardpad goes over farmyards. In that case you are not allowed to walk your dog there, not even on a leash.

Can I also get your guides physically?
Our guides can be picked up free of charge during opening hours in world store Fair van Ver in Woudrichem and in the Biesbosch MuseumEiland in Werkendam. The stamp cards for the QRfgoed mill tour are in the guide 'Erfgoedroutes'. This guide can be picked up at locations mentioned above, and at all mills on the mill tour route. Where do I book a booth tour?
On the City Guides website you can book a tour of Woudrichem.

Where do I park my car?
In the fortified town you can park your car anywhere for free. Navigate to Hoogstraat 55 for parking at the Janus Baks Bastion (near the foot ferry to Loevestein), or navigate to parking Schapendam.

Where do I park my touring car?
You can park your touring car for free in the Schapendam parking lot.

Here you will find all overnight locations in the Biesboschlinie. Booking is done through the respective party, unfortunately we have no insight into the availability of the locations.

For this you can best go to group accommodation/holiday house Jantjeskeet, where you can stay overnight with a group of up to 16 people.
