White Mill

De Witte Molen is a 1740 stone ground-sailer in Meeuwen.

The Witte Molen in Meeuwen is a round stone ground-sailer from 1740, proudly situated along the road from Hank to Wijk en Aalburg. Originally built by Johan Maurits van Hemert, in 1941 the mill was one of the first in the region to receive Van Bussel streamline blades for better efficiency. After being a storage facility for many years, it was moved in 1987 and fully milled in 1995.

Nowadays, the Witte Molen grinds grain again on a voluntary basis and is open to the public every Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is open to the public. Various mill products manufactured by mill Nooit Gedagt are sold. The adjoining authentically decorated emergency house from the reconstruction period can also be visited. In addition, the mill can be visited by appointment and when the mill is running.

With its characteristic white hull, historic technology and lively miller's team, the Witte Molen is a valuable heritage and a beloved meeting place in Altena.
