Spend the night in the Biesbosch
De Biesbosch is a unique nature reserve and a wonderful place to spend several days. Those looking for peace and adventure can visit a number of special accommodations in and around the park.
Experience the Biesbosch off grid and up close: spend the night at a nature campsite or even on the water. Those who like adventure can stay in a hiker's hut. With a little luck, the iconic Biesbosch inhabitant, the beaver, can be spotted from your bedroom window!
Need inspiration for fine routes through National Park De Biesbosch? This page offers a complete overview. Stroll along winding paths, cycle through vast nature and explore the characteristic creeks by boat. Get inspired and plan your adventure in this special area.
In Unesco World Heritage Sites
The Hollandse Waterlinies is a unique defense system. This strip of land can be flooded and thus used to protect against invaders: the water was too deep to wade through, but not deep enough to navigate. Forts and fortresses were erected at weak spots in the line. Since 2021, the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie, along with the Stelling van Amsterdam, has been a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Nowadays you can even stay overnight in this world heritage site. Sleep in Fort Bakkerskil or unwind in a casemate in the middle of the fortified town of Woudrichem. Another special world heritage site is Slot Loevestein, known by Hugo de Groot. Spend the night in the officers' quarters, the commander's quarters or in the soldiers' cottage.
Overlooking the polder
The Biesboschlinie alternates river landscapes and nature reserves with vast polders and vast farmlands. From B&B De Hooge Polder you look out over the fields. In the rustic village of Babyloniënbroek is B&B Babylonia and in Genderen is Camping Nix Hoeve: a small-scale campsite.
Another special overnight location is glamping De Kas InN. You sleep in a garden greenhouse that has been converted into luxury accommodation. Through the large windows and the glass ceiling you have a magnificent view over the polder. Prefer real camping? Family camping De Speeltol offers plenty of entertainment with a natural playground, farm animals, playground equipment and a swimming pool.
Other special locations
In the Biesboschlinie there are more special locations to spend the night. At EsZens you sleep in an attractively furnished bell tent in a beautiful location in natural surroundings. At Camping De la Rue you can sleep in a pipowagen and for a truly relaxing stay, spend the night at B&B De Roem van Altena where you sleep in a Scandinavian pod and have your own hot tub at your disposal.
