The Line path
Discover the Liniepad, a 9.9-kilometer walking route along the southernmost forts of the Dutch Water Lines. Experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site and walk through a centuries-old fortified town, past defensive structures, locks, and windmills, and through beautiful natural surroundings.
The Liniepad starts at the Papsluis in Nieuwendijk and ends at the fortified town of Woudrichem. Along the way, you’ll pass the southernmost forts of the Dutch Water Lines, including Fort Bakkerskil and Fort Altena. You’ll also walk through nature reserves and a newly restored estate. The restored casemates have been repurposed as bird-watching huts or winter roosts for bats.
